Many people think of exercise as a necessary evil. I've never understood why someone wouldn't include some sort of movement into their daily existence. the being said, I could admit that while I am absolutely not a gym rat, but exercise has always played a big part of who I am today.
Actually the article started out at the suggestion of a colleague/friend. We had been e-mailing each other regarding a particular article I was submitting to her website, at the time I mentioned I had to leave for the gyn including then off to my day job. She thought I meant the gym. (I had mentioned my love of power-walking in other correspondences) She wrote back groaning to me that she should be going as well, but didn't have the energy to obtain there. at the time I explained my actual destination she laughed including mentioned that I should actually write a particular article/column on my need to stay fit.
Staying fit is not only a personal choice for me-it's a way of life. From the time I was 7 I had some kind of physical activity. My first venture was in the world of dance. Having been diagnosed with scoliosis, the orthopedics suggested ballet to help strengthen my back muscles. The classes not only helped my body, but my self-esteem as well. I wound staying in class basically until I was 31! I even minored in musical theater during my university years. Before I left completely, I additionally went through several years where I added weight sessions including stationary bike classes (before they were popular I should add!).
Due to family obligations, budget including yes, even health issues (somehow, rheumatoid arthritis arrived at my doorstep) I had to give up paying for classes including gym memberships. However, that in absolutely no way meant I had to give up exercise! I formed my own 20 minute strengthening program. I combined movements from dance class including physical therapy sessions which worked all parts of my body. But that wasn't all. I replaced my love of leotards including tights including traded them in for walking shoes including some cute sweats including hit the streets first with a German Shepard mix with big brown eyes, then a Golden Retriever/Labrador mix with the same big pleading orbs. at the time weather does not permit, I have a treadmill right next to the computer.
We have all heard regarding the importance of cardio exercises. The heart association, WEBMD, the American Cancer Society including the Arthritis Foundation all promote not only strengthening sessions, but the importance of raising one's heart rate for at least 30 minutes most days pertaining to the week. In my family, both parents have heart conditions as well as diabetes. My mother including sister both have high blood pressure. While I have not personally gone onto the American Psychiatric Association website, I'm sure they promote the benefits of taking a simple walk as well. The American Medical Association provides the information that even 20 minutes of walking 3 times a week should lower or eliminate the need for anti-depressants for many who suffer from mild to moderate depression.
I obtain more than a fit body from my 45 minutes a day. at the time I put on my I-Pod, grab my pooch including little blue bag including head out the door I claim the as my me time. I clear my head, reduce my stress, put myself in a wonderful mood (especially true if I've had a trying day) which rejuvenates my outlook including creativity. I'm a much nicer user to live with for having given myself the time alone with only nature including my furry companion. For more information on Exercise-How To Fit It In including Enjoy It:
